The Herbivorous Butcher

The Herbivorous Butcher is a vegan butcher shop. Yes, you read that right. Not only do they have a collection of vegan meats and cheeses, they actually designed their shop to look like a butcher shop. More than any other vegan meat I’ve seen, their stuff looks like the real deal. Ironically, for a lifelong vegetarian like myself, this is totally unnecessary–but it is super cool and, for the vast majority of people who are used to meat, but thinking of changing over, their method is probably the way to go. Located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Hervbivorous Butcher is taking vegan meat to a whole new level. Let’s take a look at what The Herbivorous Butcher has to offer:

Whoa, it really looks like a butcher’s case of meat!

This looks uncomfortably real to me, but for someone raised on meat, it is a great way to transition to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. herbivorous butcher

More fake meat. This stuff is intense.

Some of the many press that The Herbivorous Butcher has gotten. vegan chese

They also have a selection of vegan cheese!vegan meat

Here’s one of the meats we tasted! It had a sweet, I believe, Korean, sauce. herbivorous butcher

Isaac’s verdict? It looks a lot like meat, but only sort of tastes like it. But all in all. very good! minneapolis vegan

Nearby, there is this wall with “i like you” written all over it. Had to include it–just because.

The Verdict

The Herbivorous Butcher is a great concept executed very well. With a gigantic selection of mock meat, the brother sister team behind the shop is helping expose people to the benefits of going vegan while not missing out on dishes that include meat. And if these guys add a few more people to the growing ranks of vegetarians around the world, I’m all for it.
