Art is Pointless

As creatives we are familiar with self doubt and disapproval. Doing the work we love is not only hard, there is a deep psychological toll from a society that does not value creative work as much as more traditional professions. One art project, by Jasmine Kay Uy, a Studio Art major at UT Austin perfectly encapsulates two different perceptions of art.

That’s depressing–and sadly something that nearly every artist, creative, or entrepreneur has heard at least once. But the passion that we have for our work is crucial to keep pushing forward, and not give up our dreams.

The second side of this work, which takes the mindless criticism of the first and turns it into an argument for art, creativity, passion and industry is both inspiring and valuable. This is a message that more people need to hear. Check out more of her Jasmine Kay’s work here.
